Meet Makenzie Bonham and Paul Burnett of Burnett’s Staffing

October 17, 2017 Articles, Burnett's Staffing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Makenzie Bonham and Paul Burnett.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My grandparents, Paul W. and Joyce Burnett, opened Burnett’s Staffing in the summer of 1966 in Arlington, TX. With backgrounds in Human Resources and Sales, the two of them grew the small firm by taking great pride in contributing to the community and the workforce. Initially specializing in direct placement only, the company expanded to include temp-to-hire and temporary employment opportunities.

My father, Paul D. Burnett joined the organization after obtaining his MBA in 1985. Throughout his 32 years of industry experience, Paul D. has worked in every position at Burnett’s Staffing. He has dedicated his life’s work to helping others succeed on top of the overall progression of the recruitment agency.

Over the past 51 years, Burnett’s Staffing has changed and evolved alongside the diverse employment industry. Today, Burnett’s Staffing has seven locations across Dallas-Fort Worth and plans to open more offices as the Metroplex continues to grow.

In the past three years, my brother Brayden and I became the 3rd generation to join the family business.

Burnett’s Staffing believes that people are business’s most precious and valuable resource. By connecting employers and job seekers, we simplify the job search and hiring process for employers and job seekers alike.

We are appreciative and proud to be a part of something that helps makes a difference in the life of another. – Makenzie

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the ongoing struggles of running a family business is getting everyone to agree on the details and different aspects of Burnett’s Staffing’s business strategies, vision and growth plans.

Another challenging aspect that the company has overcome has been dealing with the many recessions our economy has seen. There have been times when the job market was scarce with many people desperately seeking employment, and there have been times when we have seen job growth within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, but there were few candidates, actively looking for work. Both obstacles have pushed our company to develop and improve the way we operate. – Paul

Please tell us about Burnett’s Staffing.
Burnett’s Staffing helps connect job seekers with employers across North Texas, and the one thing that we are known for is the quality of our candidates.

We specialize in recruitment and employment services including direct hire, temp-to-hire, and temporary job placement for office environment positions.

Our detailed screening process helps remove the stress off the shoulders of many HR departments and saves small to medium businesses an exponential amount of time when trying to grow and develop their teams.

We hire office professionals for Administrative, Accounting/Finance, Customer Service, Sales/Marketing, Management, Technical and Legal career opportunities.

We believe the longevity of a company is a direct reflection of everyone within an organization sharing the same goal. For us, our employees have the same purpose as our staff back in 60’s did; to help others.

While we’re delighted to help individuals hire staff and find employment, our team is most proud to be the one others rely on for professional guidance, encouragement, and support. Especially because when some of these individuals turn to us, that’s when they need the expert advice and career consulting the most, during those difficult times. – Makenzie

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
The one thing I would have done differently would be to take more calculated risks.

I’ve learned that there is simply nothing that can replace hard work, but after building the business and knowing the industry as I do now, I would have taken more chances that at the time I thought were too much of a gamble.

But, if I had to start over, I would’ve pushed more for growth during the times of being content with our successes. – Paul
